It's Thursday, which means Market. But it's still rainy. What to do???
Dylan keeps watching outside and saying - NOW! Now it's stopped raining! She really really wanted to ride the bikes to the market, so we did, even though there was still just a bit of wet coming down.
There wasn't much to buy - though it seems we always buy more than is on the list. Here we're buying eggs and potatoes from the Schmidt's. She was a bit shy, understandably.
After a warm lunch (broccoli soup, not a huge hit, but OK), Dylan insisted she needed a nap, and since we had both been awake for at least an hour during the night since some strange noise crept into her ear, that was fine.
Then, we have to get ready for The Wedding. Shower, wash hair, press dress, collect everything we might possibly need (mini-Oreos, camera, iPad, umbrella) and take a picture. We're ready!
We arrived at the Rhododendron Park and met up with the other family and friends and then the photographer began his job. You all know what it's like - every imaginable combination, though thankfully there aren't so many of us. Dylan posed with the bride. Mirja did look beautiful - loved the hair!
Mama duck and her babies were a sweet distraction.
Then The Wedding Ceremony. It was a civil service, non-religious, held in the greenhouse at the Park. A few tears were shed.....
Afterwards, some of Christoph's and Mirja's colleagues from the bank showed up and made a walkway of long-stemmed roses! It was sweet.
Then on to dinner. We arrived after 8. Drinks, bruschetta, antipasti, fish, such tender steak, spaghetti with steak and tomato sauce for the kid, and we are D O N E. It's 10:30 and we can't manage staying for dessert (though it would have been yummy, too, I am sure).
Home at 11:00. Hop into jammies, brush teeth, read three chapters. She says she's not sleepy, but there are no complaints when hugs are given and lights go out!
She did great! So many different things today (including tights that didn't want to stay where they should) and so many GERMANS talking GERMAN! I think we need a German lesson or two....
